KC Wing Men Score:
8.4

First thing we said when we walked out of this place was, “We need to come back.”
If Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was remade about dudes and chicken wings, it would be filmed here. And Eain and I, with our golden mugs full of beer, would be the first victims because we would be so easily distracted by the bountiful flavors and experiences. “Oooh, cheesy corn river, I’ll have just a bite…” Then boom we fall in and get sucked into a tube transporting us to the fryer. We’d be doomed.
Wings Café in Westport is our new standard for wings. Everything they do with the wing is top notch. The meat is well cooked, the skin is crispy and the sauce not only tastes amazing, but it is layered on the wing perfectly.
“It’s like a perfect dive. There’s no splash.” I told Eain when I bit into the traditional buffalo flavored wing. The sauce coats all parts of the wing, leaves little trace on the plate and little to no trace on your fingers.

We tried two flavors of wings. Traditional, because we need to get every wing places’ baseline. And a dry rub flavor called “Kickin Chicken.”
The traditional sauce was near perfect, getting 9 and 8.5 ratings from us. There was a good level of spice that came on slow, and the butteriness and sweetness of the sauce counterbalanced it perfectly. The wings were medium to medium large size and had really good meat on them.
The dry rub was also great. A little salty but the crispiness of the chicken was hard to turn away from. We could’ve eaten a dozen of these easily.
The only problem with this place is that we only scratched the surface of the menu offerings. There are so many more wing flavors to try. Including some very spicy sauces that we are probably going to try next. I’m already preparing myself mentally for the burn.
And the sides, we haven’t mentioned the sides. Fried cheesy corn balls. Fired jalapeno poppers. And so much more. Everything you need to help soak up that beer and hot sauce in your stomach. So good.
KC Wing Men will be back, and this probably won’t be the last you read about Wings Café on this website.
